The Process

Watch the video: Discover how our remote inspection process works—quickly, safely, and without the need for an on-site visit.

  • Step-by-Step Guidance: Ask questions, evaluate areas and get to the bottom of your problem remotely with a live asbestos inspector via Zoom call.

  • Expert Analysis: Understand how certified professionals determine the number of samples needed, proctor the sampling and send to accredited labs.

  • Actionable Results: Find out how we provide you with reports that meet EPA and Federal Regulation that are usable for contractors and transfer of property.

Typical DIY asbestos tests are only valid for the person collecting the samples. Often dismissed by contractors and other interested parties due to an insufficient number of samples collected or lack of proof the samples sent to the lab were even the materials they claim to be, not a much newer material sent in lieu of what’s actually present in the home.

Our asbestos test kits solve this problem by offering proctored testing by certified asbestos professionals, certifying that the samples sent to the lab were actually collected from the home at the stated location. Your inspector will also determine the number of samples needed for an EPA Certified Test, as homogeneous areas often require anywhere from 2 to 7 lab samples from specific locations. Materials with multiple layers like flooring tile require testing of all layers in addition to testing for the adhesive or mastic It's secured down with.

Number of Samples Needed for homogeneous materials/areas:

  • Non-Friable Suspected Materials: At least 2 samples needed. If the product is glued down or multi layered, all layers must be tested, including the adhesive/glue/mastics and other underlayment’s, bringing the total to 4 or maybe even 6 samples.

  • Surfacing or Friable Materials areas less than 1,000sqft: At least 3 samples.

  • Surfacing or Friable Materials areas 1,000sqft to 5,000sqft: At least 5 samples.

  • Surfacing or Friable Materials areas greater than 5,000sqft: At least 7 samples.

Example: Lets say your getting ready to remodel a room in your basement and have asbestos concerns. Specifically, the ceiling texture and glued down flooring tile in a room of approximately 200sqft. The ceiling would be considered friable and require (3) samples, while the floor tile itself would only need (2). However, the flooring is glued down, requiring the the glue/mastic to also be tested, bringing your total of samples to (7).
